A group of 9 cycling ladies spent the weekend here last weekend (07.10.2012).

I was in my Karsten 300 pod with two other friends and there were various other smaller tents in our group.

James Butcher made us so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. There was one other group there last weekend, but there is so much space there that we couldn't actually see or hear them!

The great bonus of this campsite was that you can light campfires, so we would come back from the pub and have a chat around the fire with toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate. This is what camping should be like! James sold us very dry seasoned wood and came to check that we weren't running out, so we went to bed nice and warm.

The loos and showers were clean and fairly basic with solar heated water. We were a little concerned that there wouldn't be enough water at this time in October, but we all had pretty quick showers and there was plenty of hot water.

James also owns the pub up the road, The Sloop which was also really friendly and the food was excellent. We went there both nights it was so good. The best fish pie ever!

From the campsite we cycled down to Arlington reservoir on one day via Lewes which was gorgeous and on the second day down to Steyning. A very beautiful area.
