May Bank Holiday - Enjoyable Mayhem

We ventured to West Runton CCC site for the last Bank Holiday in May - Glorious Weather awaited us, and it didn't diasappoint.

We had a perfect pitch, up until the throws of Bank Holiday Campers turned up - not that there is a problem, hey it's going to be busy anywhere and we're one of them, but I seriously could not believe how tightly we were packed onto this well run site.
By Friday night, it was bursting at the seams. The 6 metre rule still appllied, but everyone was on their boundary's, with the gaps between the tents/units being roadways. We could not even sit out the front to enjoy the caravans trying to manovure in between us to get to and from their pitch. In the end, some of them had to unhook and push it was that tight.

Anyway regardless of this we had a wonderful time. The highlight being Wiverton Hall.

Here was a pick your own farm, with a fantastic rustic restaurant/cafe, set in the unassuming grounds of a 17th Century Jacobean Manor House.

The food (cooked fresh) looked and tasted wonderful, but it does get very busy so look into booking, especially at weekends.

The gardens (free to all) take you through wild flower meadows and crops, through the woods and down to a seculded pond, where the jungle part of the walk took over until we reappeared in an area where rope swings hung from a tree (more fun for the children). Needless to say they loved it and it made a refreshing change from the campsite and beach.

1960's Igloo Tent - Pneumatic Tent Company

Just got back from work to a nice suprise - The CCC Magazine waiting on the floor, and the star letter relating to a 1960's Igloo, manufactured by the Pneumatic Tent Company and a Karsten Inflatable Tent. We were lucky enough to see a 50 year old Igloo at out latest Karsten Tent Display, when Karsten Tent Enthusiast Garry Jones and his family brought one along to show us. It just so happend that we made a small video of it for posperity - how fantastic that I can now relate it to this article.
