Burnham Overy Staithe

Working from home and indeed a laptop over the past has meant that taking our work with us has never been a problem, and nice weather always led to packing the tent and taking off for the weekend. However, since opening and having the commitment of the showroom, things have changed somewhat! We are still able to 'take off' but for a shorter stay as proved the other weekend when we loaded the van last minute and headed off to North Norfolk for two nights to visit some friends (the weather forecast wasn't great). Seaside here we come! Staying just outside of Brancaster , we quickly erected our bell tent (the only tent not on display) and our faithful Karsten Tarp as we knew we were due rain. We then set about taking in the delights of the local area, including lunch at the  Lifeboat Inn  (socially distanced of course) and walking along a section of the North Norfolk coastal path. The small harbour at Burnham Overy Staithe. Let us know your favorite North Norfolk Campsite and ...

Wonderful Willowcroft

Image
Over the past few years our usual family Easter break has seen us camped at Clippesby Hall. A beautiful site on the edge of the Norfolk Broads with everything you could wish for from a top 'A' list site. However this year, within walking distance of Clippesby we camped at Willowcroft Caravan Park . Booked by telephone and deposit sent by post, we couldn't wait for our 4 day break. It didn't disappoint! Situated down a no-through road and only a two minute walk from the River Thurne on the Norfolk Broads, this twenty placement campsite all with electric hookups is simple, quiet and secluded. The friendly owners Jim and Kandy are also caravanners, so know what they expect from a site, and if there is ever a problem, which I imagine is rarely, they are only over the road to ask.  The toilets and showers are well kept and clean....small donation for the showers, a utility room with sink, fridge/freezer. Although there are no particular site rules, it is expec...

Return to Clippesby Hall

Image
Well, I have started the year off well by booking a return visit to Clippesby Hall in Norfolk during April for a spot of family camping. We were there last year and it's a great site offering all you need for the adults including pub as well as fantastic play equipment for the children and the larger ones amongst us. The on site facilities just make it perfect for camping and the small cafe is an ideal meeting point. We're taking some friends up with us this time, so a good time shall be had by all (Rain or Shine!)

May Bank Holiday - Enjoyable Mayhem

Image
We ventured to West Runton CCC site for the last Bank Holiday in May - Glorious Weather awaited us, and it didn't diasappoint. We had a perfect pitch, up until the throws of Bank Holiday Campers turned up - not that there is a problem, hey it's going to be busy anywhere and we're one of them, but I seriously could not believe how tightly we were packed onto this well run site. By Friday night, it was bursting at the seams. The 6 metre rule still appllied, but everyone was on their boundary's, with the gaps between the tents/units being roadways. We could not even sit out the front to enjoy the caravans trying to manovure in between us to get to and from their pitch. In the end, some of them had to unhook and push it was that tight. Anyway regardless of this we had a wonderful time. The highlight being Wiverton Hall . Here was a pick your own farm, with a fantastic rustic restaurant/cafe, set in the unassuming grounds of a 17th Century Jacobean Manor House. The food (co...
