Camping Top Tip #1

Image
Camping Top Tip #1 Always check over your tent, awnings, footprint (if used), guy ropes, and pegs before any trip. Is it there, have you got enough! Whether you only used your tent last week or you are giving the tent it's first airing after being stored over the winter, this tip will save you so much hassle when setting up. We've all done the manic break our camp down quickly routine to either be off-site in time or beat the rain, and when packing the car, items just get placed in any available space. When unpacking at home not all items may be stored together. The amount of people we read about and speak with, including ourselves who have left poles at home or forgotten that when unloading, the awning was stored in the shed, not the garage! It all makes for an unnecessary start to your holiday which can easily be avoided by sparing half an hour to check everything. Remember success is 90% preparation!

Kickstarting the 2019 Season

Image
Kickstarting the 2019 Season We've been a bit lapse with the upkeep of this blog over the past year and it was a very challenging year following the devastating fire that destroyed the Karsten factory and store, but as you would expect, like a phoenix they have risen from the ashes stronger and more formidable than ever! I will backtrack and fill in some post from our camping adventures throughout 2018 but thought we'd do a very quick catch up with what's been happening so far in 2019. Well, we're two shows into the season already with the first one being a very cold (not to mention windy) one in early February. This was the display where we were able to show off the Combi-Awning connector for the first time! We had been in discussions with Karsten about making one since November the previous year, and now it was on display. So to say that it turns heads is an understatement. Connecting directly to the tent we thought it looked the business and no poles invo

Storm guying the Karsten Combi Awning

Our latest display is in full flow whilst 'storm Brian' hits the UK, and with our Karsten Tents reputation for resilience to windy conditions, we thought we'd share a quick video on how we guyed out the combi-awning for the Karsten 300. As you will see in the video, it is a large open awning which can easily catch the wind, but with correct guying you can see just how stable it can be in high winds. We experienced average winds of 20-30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph throughout the day. The awning was solid and drew lots of positive comments from those attending today's display.

Karsten POP Awnings

Image
New for 2016 from Karsten Tenten is the POP Awning A simply designed canopy that 'Pops' up and is then fitted to the standard rails on camper vans. It comes with a side screen which zips to the top and is then pegged to the floor. An additional side is available as an optional extra. Due to it's unique design, the awning breaks down exceedingly quick and neatly packs away for easy storage.  Additional king poles are available which enables the camper to elevate the side screens, to increase the 'tarp' effect of the awning and also maximise shade. Made in Holland with the best materials and fittings, these awning would also be very suitable for work vans as it fits a standard awning rail.  For further information please see our webpage LINK  or Call  01763 273662

Colour Coded Awnings

Image
This is a great example of a Karsten with colour coded awnings... A 350 set up in dark green. The family also have the sleeping extension to further enhance the sleeping area, leaving the main tent for day to day use. The owner said of this picture; 'This is our most recent camp (late May BH) at Glanllyn, Lake Bala in Wales.  Its a site we used to use circa 25 years ago but have started using again - excellent location for sailing as you can store boats by tents and launch straight onto Bala.  We are going back with a group of friends with similar boats in August'. We have supplied our customers with such an array of bespoke tents, if you have any photos of your set-ups we'd love to see them. Please send in any photos to info@campingtravelstore.co.uk

Direct to Tent Rain Awning Connector

Image
Karsten's direct to tent rain awning connector. This is a great little joiner add to your collection of Karsten Awnings. It allows you to connect your current rain awning direct to the Karsten Pod, without the need of erecting the Comfort or Extension Awning. We have used it today at a display on a Karsten 325 and its' fantastic. Not only does it protect the doorway from rain, but also provides enough shade for two people to sit under. This is now available to order from the Camping Travel Store Please call 01763 273662 or email info@campingtravelstore.co.uk for further details.
