Burnham Overy Staithe

Working from home and indeed a laptop over the past has meant that taking our work with us has never been a problem, and nice weather always led to packing the tent and taking off for the weekend. However, since opening and having the commitment of the showroom, things have changed somewhat! We are still able to 'take off' but for a shorter stay as proved the other weekend when we loaded the van last minute and headed off to North Norfolk for two nights to visit some friends (the weather forecast wasn't great). Seaside here we come! Staying just outside of Brancaster , we quickly erected our bell tent (the only tent not on display) and our faithful Karsten Tarp as we knew we were due rain. We then set about taking in the delights of the local area, including lunch at the  Lifeboat Inn  (socially distanced of course) and walking along a section of the North Norfolk coastal path. The small harbour at Burnham Overy Staithe. Let us know your favorite North Norfolk Campsite and

Bay View Eastbourne

Image
Well, not exactly on the beach, but within 50 yards....is a little gem of a site called Bay View on the edge of Eastbourne From the regimental booking of the site, to arrival and pitching, I knew that this was going to be a good site. You see there are rules, and these were being obeyed in a very relaxed manner. Again, the wardens were staying on-site. We arrived (late) and were greeted with a warm welcome, shown to our marked pitch where we received a very informative welcome pack. The marked pitch was for your tent and vehicle, so if it didn't fit, ours did! Fortunately, with the Karsten being modular, we only took the minimum set up as erecting the combination tent as well would have been a bit of a squeeze. Larger pitches were available. The facilities are good and clean with reception catering for morning papers and milk with some basic supplies available. The small play area is in good repair and shut from 9pm, encouraging children back to their tents. T

Mablethorpe - Blustery Stay!

Image
Mablethorpe – 28th August for 4 Days A blustery start to our stay at Mablethorpe CCC site – Thankfully we were in our Karsten. A great little site in the shadows of the nearby wind farm; but only a 15 minute walk from a magnificent beach with all the tourist trappings of a Victorian Seaside. We played on the sand, and the children loved all the amusements and the fish and chips from the shop at the end of the campsite road were fantastic. Having said this, we found it very difficult to find a reasonable restaurant to eat in actually in Mablethorpe. We had a trip out to Lincoln one day as it was only a 40 minute drive away. Stunning medieval streets, possibly the steepest I’ve climbed in the UK to the cathedral at the top. If we ever stay at this site again, I would opt for the tent field without electricity, as I hate being in the middle of caravans with their TV’s on!
