"Wild Camping"

Image
Fun times "Wild Camping" in Hertfordshire with three local campsites to hand.  H2O Rampage is an awesome large-scale waterpark for all the family, including wild swimming, paddleboarding, and of course the fantastic inflatable course.  Situated on the Three Lakes activity centre near Ware, there are also lots of other activities available, including fishing, pitch & putt, and football golf.  Afterward, you can relax in the on-site restaurant or enjoy a lovely family walk around the area of rolling countryside. Three Lakes also has its own campsite ( Westmill Farm Camping and Caravan Site ), and the sites of Church Farm Ardley , and the Hertford Camping and Caravanning Club are only a short drive away.  Please note: You will need to check swimmers' ages and competency levels before going. First Pitch of the 300 & 220 Karsten Combination

Image
Well, despite the cold and us sleeping in the Human Comfort tent, we did manage to get the flagship Karsten out for it's first official pitch. I much prefer to see a tent actually pitched as opposed to a library picture. The awnings are not fully pegged out, so the material would be more taught. The zip-in groundsheet was much easier to handle and fit than I was expecting and really does give it an element of luxury. All in all, it was a great weekend and as you can see, we managed to get the Karsten Carp Tent up as well!

Hertford CCC and the Human Comfort Marne Tent

Image
Well, the BBC weather forcast did not disappoint - minus 4 at 8pm as my daughter and I settled down for the night. The Marne tent, was easy to pitch using 3 poles and the fly and inner pitched together in about 5 minutes. I was really impressed with the tent. The two windows and the front let in good light, there was excellent ventilation throughout, and no condensation in the morning. The tent is described as a 'Technical Cotton' (polycotton) but is much softer to the touch than the main stream polycottons available on the market. The front porch has it's own ground sheet and the rear storage does not, but allows for other 'dirty' equipment to be stowed away. Both the doors from the inner tent have the fly net integrated and the rain porch to the front is a great little addition. We used the Human-Comfort self inflating air mats with optional foam topper and cover as well as Human Comfort sleeping bags (both to be reviewed soon). I have to admit it was really toas

Karsten Tent Camping Weekend 5th June

All was planned for the 1st Karsten Tent Camping Weekend, alas the weather. All week I had been watching the weather channels, surfing the web to find the latest and in the end, those who had booked cancelled as the weather appeared to be horrendous. We got there, setup by 5pm on Friday and enjoyed good weather until Sunday Morning when later the heavens open around 4am. By 9am the Sun was out and the Tent went away dry. Hopefully when I try and get everyone together again, the weather forecast will be kinder to tempt out the Karsten Campers!!!
